MICROSOFT HOLOLENS

Microsoft produced the first commercial Mixed Reality device – HoloLens. They say it brings holograms to life, and we couldn’t agree more. It overlaps virtual world with what you see around you using semi-transparent glasses.
HoloLens scans environment around you through integrated 3d scanner. Thus it can correctly track your movement in space and position holograms around you. It works flawlessly. And it is fast. Holograms can be placed anywhere in space. You can even interact with them. Application of this new technology is fantastic, as it can bring an additional virtual layer on top of our reality that will change how we interact with everyday objects. What is even more important, HoloLens is an untethered device, which means it has no cables, and everything is integrated within the device itself, bringing real freedom of movement.

TRACKING MOVEMENT IN SPACE

With integrated 3D cameras, HoloLens has a sense of space around you. It detects walls and floors, as well as other objects that appear in space. It also remembers space that you visited, so it can correctly replace holograms after you return. A scanned environment is also used to occlude holograms so that they don’t show through walls or behind desks if real-life objects hide them. 3D sensing is what allows HoloLens to correctly position holograms and keep them in the right position even though you are moving around them.

STREAMING

SHOW MIXED REALITY ON ANY SCREEN

HoloLens allows showing mixed reality video streaming on any display. You directly connect to an IP address of the HoloLens device and access its integrated streaming service. This brings a vision of what is happening in mixed reality to the audience looking at a person controlling the HoloLens. What a user of the HoloLens sees through the glasses others can see on the big screen. Such application can be precious on large events where it is essential for a more massive auditorium to experience mixed reality.

Yes if they all wear HoloLens. If application shares the same space and can position holograms at the same position in space and synchronize them, then more people can see the same holographic image at the same time.

 

Mixed Reality usually means that virtual image is seen through transparent glasses. Virtual Reality is if a virtual image is viewed through non-transparent glasses. In Virtual Reality, an observer sees only virtual space, while in Mixed Reality he can also see the real world around him.

 

HoloLens has integrated spatial sound through integrated speakers. It also has integrated microphone.

 

HoloLens takes few seconds to scan the space around him and that is all the setup it needs.
